Structural changes at D1 Oils have Bedford now working directly with Quinvita Limited. On December 10, 2010, the shareholders of D1 Oils approved the sale of all its Jatropha plant science and technology activities (via the sale of the entire issued share capital of its two subsidiary companies, D1 Oils Plant Science Limited and Quinvita Limited), to Quinvita Limited, now owned by D1 Oils Director, Henk Joos, Vincent Volckaert and Greta De Both.
Henk Joos, now CEO of Quinvita, said, “We look forward, as Quinvita, to being able to support a new wave of investment into Jatropha with professional advice and products, and to continuing our cooperation with D1 Oils.”
Joos, along with Volckaert and De Both will be integral in Bedford’s planting in Kenya going forward. Quinvita met with Bedford representatives in Malindi, Kenya in December, 2010 for a training session.
“As the successor and assign to D1 Oils Plant Science Limited, who we have contracted with, Quinvita will now provide all plant science and technology to Bedford,” said Nolan Johnson, Bedford’s in-house counsel. “D1 is looking to moving exclusively into plantation operations and will, like Bedford, also join in the membership platforms, which will continue to be administered by Quinvita.”
He said Bedford will continue working with all of the same D1 representatives, who are now a part of Quinvita, in carrying out the terms of the current Membership and Services Agreement.
“In summary, nothing will really change for Bedford,” said Dustin Mitchell, Bedford’s Managing Director. “We already work closely with Henk and Vincent and Greta and will continue to foster our relationship with them. This is a positive change for Bedford because control over the plant science division will now be exclusively from those with all the expertise on the ground rather than from a corporate team in London.”
