The world’s leading Jatropha research company, D1 Oils plc, has announced its first third-party deal to supply Bedford Biofuels with Jatropha technology and services.
In a news release July 17, D1 Oils plc announced it will supply Bedford Biofuels its plant science and planting technology and services over a five-year period. The agreement offers the framework for the sale of technology consulting services and Jatropha planting seed and seedlings.
Ben Good, CEO of D1 Oils, who visited Bedford’s Calgary office August 17, said, “We are very pleased with this initiative with Bedford Biofuels and we anticipate further development of this area of our business as the Jatropha industry matures and commercial planting operations expand.”
David McClure, Bedford’s CEO and President, said the deal will be of tremendous mutual benefit to Bedford and D1.
“We are immensely impressed with the work D1 has done and the headway it has made with Jatropha,” said McClure. “The research and development D1 has produced is exactly in line with our business strategy to supply the growing world demand for non-food-crop biofuel.”
D1’s science enables Bedford to implement best farming practices and techniques to maximize yields, and access to seed genetics that optimize production and make yields predicable.
